The Collaboration for Health IT hosted their 4th annual meeting at the ICE Health Systems headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, June 24-26, 2019. The meeting was attended by an international audience.
Presentations were given on a breadth of topics, from high level idea sharing about the future of healthcare, to exciting ICE Health Systems launch announcements such as advanced search enhancements and the future of progress notes, and even in-depth technical details and demonstrations including data warehousing, security and financials.
There were interactive workshops where attendees could experiment with tasks within ICE Health Systems, encouraging participants to explore and discover the system. Demonstrations of the system were given by facilitators from multiple institutions, showcasing how the system is being used or will be used in upcoming projects. Most importantly, there was collaboration.
The attendees were able to share ideas, identify concerns and brainstorm solutions. At the conclusion of the meeting, a future development priority was set for “Learning Health System”.
In addition to the hard work and progress achieved at the meeting, the attendees also managed to have some fun. An organized social event included an evening at a local Virtual Reality Arcade, where participants engaged in independent, competitive and/or teamwork based games. As with the rest of the meeting, the evening was a success with everyone thoroughly enjoying the unique experience.
Many attendees extended their trip in order to explore the surrounding Rocky Mountains, or venture to the West Coast to enjoy the diversity of Canada. Although a location has not yet been established, we look forward to next year’s meeting and hope to see you there!
